LISA Institute for advanced Studies (LISA-IAS) is established as an ancillary of the LIS Academy to implement the Education and Research activities of the Academy. The primary objective of the Institute is to start training programmes for the benefit of the LIS Professionals. It has also aimed to conduct Certificate Courses, Diploma Courses, Degree Courses and master’s degree program in Library and Information Science in collaboration with different Universities including VTU, IGNOU, Nrupatunga University etc. Presently, LISA-IAS in association with VTU has launched six Proficiency evening Curses. The LIS Finishing School is a program developed by the LIS Academy to address the difficulties that the LIS graduates face in building a career in the competitive job market of Library and Information Science. The finishing school aims to impart soft skills such as presentations, interpersonal communication, and writing, as well as technological proficiency in areas such as library technologies, network architecture, and digital libraries. The program is designed to bridge the gap between the skills that young LIS professionals possess and the dynamic market demands. The academy draws on experts from industry and academia to teach the modules and provide state-of-the-art facilities. The finishing school modules include language proficiency, introduction to software such as WORD, EXCEL, and PPT, infographics, project preparation, operating systems, library automation, web development, content management tools, institutional repositories, and open journal and conference systems. Upon completion, graduates will be equipped with the necessary skills to succeed in the LIS domain and land respectable job profiles.
