Centre for Research Excellence (CRE)

The Centre for Research Excellence (CRE) is a research-focused wing of LIS Academy, that aims to advance knowledge in interdisciplinary areas in general and Library & Information Science in particular. The activities of a CRE involve conducting and supporting high-quality research projects, providing research training and mentoring, organizing scientific events and conferences, disseminating research findings, and engaging with stakeholders from academia, industry, and government. CREs often foster collaborations among researchers from different institutions, and will also partner with industry and community organizations to facilitate knowledge exchange and technology transfer. The ultimate goal of a CRE is to produce innovative research outcomes that have a significant impact on society and contribute to the advancement of the field.

LIS Finishing School

The LIS Finishing School is a program developed by the LIS Academy to address the difficulties that the LIS graduates face in building a career in the competitive job market of Library and Information Science. The finishing school aims to impart soft skills such as presentations, interpersonal communication, and writing, as well as technological proficiency in areas such as library technologies, network architecture, and digital libraries. The program is designed to bridge the gap between the skills that young LIS professionals possess and the dynamic market demands. The academy draws on experts from industry and academia to teach the modules and provide state-of-the-art facilities. The finishing school modules include language proficiency, introduction to software such as WORD, EXCEL, and PPT, infographics, project preparation, operating systems, library automation, web development, content management tools, institutional repositories, and open journal and conference systems. Upon completion, graduates will be equipped with the necessary skills to succeed in the LIS domain and land respectable job profiles.
