The LIS Academy has launched a monthly LISA Distinguished Lecture Series featuring prominent figures. Our esteemed speakers include nationally and internationally recognized academics and research scientists who have utilized libraries and appreciate their contribution to their success. The purpose behind the LISA Distinguished Lecture Series is to foster a wide array of perspectives and expectations from the realms of librarianship, management, administration, and professional leadership.Our lineup of distinguished leaders in the field of Library and Information Science (LIS) will delve into contemporary trends, issues, and emerging technologies within the profession. They will also discuss their innovative initiatives, success stories, and best practices. In essence, the LISA Lecture Series aims to serve as an exceptional learning platform for LIS professionals.The inaugural lecture of this series took place on November 14, 2020. We were honoured to have Padma Bhushan Prof. P. Balaram, the former Director of the Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore, as our inaugural speaker. Prof. Balaram delivered a captivating lecture on the topic, “Science Publishing: Greed, Vanity, and the Decline of Scholarship.” This marked the commencement of what promises to be an enlightening and enriching series of lectures for our LIS community.
